Augrabies Falls is located in Augrabies Falls National Park in South Africa. The falls are found on the Orange River and they are approximately 197 feet (60 m) high. The locals named the waterfall Ankoerebis which translates into “place of big noises.”
The greatest volume of water was recorded at 280,000 cubic feet (7,800 cubic meters) of water every second. This is more than three times the average high season flow rate for Niagara Falls.
The Augrabies Falls gorge is 787 feet (240 m) deep and 11.1 miles (18 km) long.
